I spend a lot of time in and out of Elevators at work going to and from meetings…sometimes I’m alone other times it’s full of suit-wearing crack-berry using (I however, am not one of them) very savvy professionals…there is small talk about the weather “wish it were Friday” comments….and often there is silence. I wonder what the heck everyone is thinking about. My thoughts are often scattered and kind of random. So I ask, when you are in an elevator what the heck are you thinking about?
On another note: On average I spend over 55 hrs of the week at work (including travel time) WHY?!?!?!?!

I think about what my kids are doing and that they don’t run out on the wrong floor, or push just one more button. It must be a mom thing!

I spend a lot of time in elevators too. I usually think about the other people in the elevators. This is actually kind of embarrassing to admit, but it usually consists of thoughts like “She has split ends and needs to trim her hair” or “That skirt is the wrong length to be wearing with those boots because it makes her legs look short.” These are NOT nice things to think. I think I’m going to find coal in my stocking this Christmas. I guess my New Years’ resolution should be to think nice things about people in elevators.

You are so funny! Usually if I’m in the elevator it’s with my kids. If we are the only ones, I usually spend the time being thankful no one else is in there with us. If someone else is in with us, I pray that my kids behave!! (or that the other person actually likes children!) By the way, we would LOVE to see you on the 15th. Do you want to come over to our house for lunch? That would be so GREAT!!

I love you Steph! When I’m in the elevator at work I tend to think, man I should have taken the stairs, you don’t get any exercise anywhere else tubby, but then my laziness takes over and I hop on. Well, in the morning you’re just too tired to be motivated (and/or you’re late, I’ll let you choose) and in the evening you just want to leave as fast as possible and really an elevator is the only way to do that. TGIF!

I don’t do much thinking in elevators but I have this, probably obnoxious, tendency to talk to whomever is in the car with me. I bring up all sorts of inane topics and do you know what, they usually respond. I’ve had some great times in elevators. Of course, I’m not in them daily like you are but I bet I’d have a real repertoire of topics if I was.
Oh and laughing at kids misbehaving in elevators is also fun to do so for your friend Jackie…let ‘em loose.

Elevator thoughts: Most DEF spending that time observing other people, sometimes asking wierd questions in order to spark conversation….but thats not really limited to elevators
