The life of a temporary housewife

June 16th, 2007

The WoolfsSo I always wondered what it was like to be a housewife…so I thought I’d try it out for a bit…actually, my job became too much for me and we felt (yes I did consult James first :)) that it was best for my well-being to quit this job, so I did. It’s been exactly a month since I’ve stopped working. I have had a few job interviews so far, and one is more promising than the others, but we’ll see how it goes. They are all still in the marketing/advertising realm, just in a different area if that makes sense. Currently we are trying to decide for me to find another job here in Cleveland while James keeps working until the program we are looking into for him start in the summer of 08′….or move to Columbus (tony if you’re reading this..you’re doing a good job convincing us!) and James can start school in the fall and still finish a year early. So I’d still have to find a job obviously, but it’d be another city, etc…so we’re still undecided and trying to make a decision fast!

So getting back to being a temporary housewife…at first I was worried I would get bored and feel depressed b/c I wasn’t really doing anything…well I have been anything but! Since quitting my job, my signs of depression/stress/anxiety have thankfully been lifted away. I thank my heavenly father everyday for the strength he has given James and I during this 3 month period…James was seriously short of amazing, he was/is so patient with me, I am so thankful! So here’s a synopsis of what I’ve done in the past month:

1. Went to South Carolina w/one of my Bff’s Kerrie (a blast!)
2. Went to Michigan with the Mr. to visit the family - we had lots of fun, they always make sure we eat plenty! Thanks Marcy!
3. Went to Denver to have a Ricks College reunion with 8 of my roommates from there - talk about fun - the best part about the trip was getting delayed in the Chicago airport and sleeping over with a bunch of crazies…if you’re ever considering flying with United, ring me up, I’ll convince you to pay the extra money for a direct flight from another carrier!
4. Babysat almost every kid in the ward (ok, so I’ve watched like 4 families kids) but honestly, I’ve loved every bit of it…if I’m going to be a mom someday I gotta get all the practice I can in now! It’s been really fun.
5. Went to the Church’s storehouse w/ my mom…it is amazing what the church does for those less fortunate, and not just of those of our faith, everyone they can!
6. Visited The Rice family in Columbus (my bro’s fam) - did I mention we have the cutest niece and nephew EVER?7.
7. Cleaned and done laundry like there’s no tomorrow - let’s be honest, cleaning is my stress reliever!
8. Actually cooked dinner…I mean I cook, but usually it’s like open a box, pour, serve…I’m actually making food that takes preparation and James loves it!
9. Spending more quality time with my main man James instead of crying on his shoulder b/c I’m stressed out from work
10. My friend Kerrie and I threw our friend Linda a bridal shower it was this morning and it was quite fun!

What adventures holds for the woolf family for the summer you might ask?

Well….I’m going to be the ward camp leader next month, so we’ve been getting ready for that and it’s been fun cleaning out the tents, buying supplies, learning how to do first aid again…(supposedly I learned that at camp once….)

James is still working hard! We plan to take some more trips to Michigan during the summer and this coming week we’ll be babysitting my niece and nephew Corinne and Mason in Columbus it should be fun! There are several more weddings to attend, games of tennis to beat James at and SKOOL him in bball…Even though our apartment complex is retro and circa 1975, it still has all the amenities to show my husband that even though I was a band nerd in highschool, I still know what a “3 pointer” is :)

I am learning that life is an adventure that you can either be happy about or stressed out about. And while I’m sure I’ll be stessed out plenty more times, right now I am really enjoying it and having a blast. Be sure to check out our flickr site…there will be new pics soon!
